TOP Server Version 5 is a major upgrade that adds new functionality, support for the latest Windows operating systems, and provides an architecture through which you’ll receive many new features over the coming years.
 Users of TOP Server Version 4 can easily upgrade to Version 5. Click to learn more about how to obtain your Version 5 upgrade.
TOP Server Version 4 projects (*.opf files) are fully forward compatible with Version 5! Just open your project, save and go!
Major new features in Version 5 include:
- Upgraded OS Support - Support for latest Windows Operating Systems, including Windows Vista & 2008 including 64 bit versions, and running as a service - More
- Processor Affinity - on multi-CPU or multi-core systems, TOP Server will normally spread load across the CPUs - with this new setting you can specify TOP Server to run on a specific CPU or core. More
- Process Mode - can be used to control the level of priority that TOP Server is given to system resources. More
- DNS Name Lookup for Devices - allows you to specify a fully qualified DNS name - i..e mydevice.myplantarea.mynetwork.com as a device name instead of an IP address for Ethernet devices. More
- Separation of Configuration from Runtime - allows you to edit a project offline and download changes to the runtime when ready or edit online as you’ve always been able to. In a future release of V5, you will also be able to remotely configure TOP Server runtimes. More
- Security for Configuration - settings enable users to select whether or not the server should respect DCOM security settings from the DCOM configuration settings or not. More
