NOTE for SuiteLink/FastDDE users
We recommend using SuiteLink to connect to the TOP Server V5 The TOP Servermust run in Interactive Mode if using FastDDE.
The application name that must be used is server_runtime, not servermain with TOP Server V5

The TOP Server does support running as a Windows Service on all supported operating systems. This allows unattended operation and can speed start-up time during a reboot of the operating system. Running as a Service may require DCOM and Windows Security settings changes. See our DCOM tutorial for detailed information on how to configure your system.
The TOP Server Version 5 has two Process Modes:
- System Service
- Interactive
The TOP Server installs as a System Service which can be seen in the image below. See the TOP Server Help file under Standard Features - Process Modes for more detail.
If you have installed the TOP Server and you don’t see the two services above, please reinstall the TOP Server with administrative privileges. If you see the Event Logger service, but not the TOP Server Service please check the Administrative settings shown below.
|
You get to the the TOP Server Settings by Right Clicking on the Administration Icon at the bottom right of your Desktop and choosing Settings from the pop up menu.
|
|
If you need to change from the default Process Mode you will need to Open the TOP Server Administration Settings. If you don’t see the Administration Icon, go to the desk top Start Menu - All Programs - Software Toolbox - TOP Server 5 - TOP Server 5 Administration. The Administration Icon shown will then appear.
Once you open the TOP Server Administrative Settings shown below you can choose the mode you want to use from the drop down menu. These settings can be secured by making changes to the User Manager, also accessed through the Administration Icon.
