The TOP Server Alias Map puts you in control of your access path.

By default the access path for an OPC connection is <ChannelName>.<DeviceName> for dynamic tags and if you are using static tags and groups it’s <ChannelName>.<DeviceName>.<optionalGroupName>.  Automatically created Alias names or Topics replace the dot with an underscore. The TOP Server gives you the ability to change the default names making it easier to change from legacy drivers to the TOP Server when upgrading your application.  These alias names are the topic names that you use with Suitelink or DDE.

Some of what you can do:

• Automatically creates TOPIC’s for DDE and SuiteLink Clients
• Lets you create your own TOPIC names
• Lets you control the update rate for DDE and SuitLink Clients
• Lets you create your own OPC Path instead of using the default paths.
• Export modify and Import CSV when you have a number of changes to make
• If you use Alias names in your client application, you will not have to make changes in your client application if you make changes to your TOP Server channel or device names.
