TOP Server Dynamic Configuration from Client Applications Our OPC Server Manager Automatically Reads and Controls These Tags for You Plus It Notifies Cell Phones or Pagers through E-mail Events Click Here for Details Dynamic Configuration tags are available with version 4.26.187 or higher (download latest version) Users who have used the TOP Server before know that the variety of built-in system tags are very useful for providing the ability to display errors and diagnostic data the client level as well as enable/disable device communications from the client level. Experienced TOP Server users also know that you can add tags and change certain tag parameters on the go without stopping the server also. Starting with Version 4.26.187 of the TOP Server, new system level tags are available for each Channel and Device in your configuration to allow you to change the TOP Server driver configuration from the client while the server is running . These features help the TOP server stand alone -- most I/O servers require you to not only stop the I/O server to make these types of changes, but also to shut them down and restart them for the changes to take effect. New applications made easier with this version of the TOP Server product line, such as: Redundant Ethernet connections Redundant Serial connections Redundant PLCs on the same network Client controllable tuning of timeout and diagnostics parameters You can now access the following items "on the go" from your client application WITHOUT stopping the server! Each item that can be written to can also be configured as "Read only" to prevent unauthorized client access to the item. To learn more about each tag, please download the demo of the TOP server and consult the built in server help file, call us at 704-849-2773, or send us an email with your specific questions - we welcome your questions and input. New System Level Tags Available in TOP Server Drivers v 4.26.187 & Higher At the channel level (i.e. com port, network interface) At the device level Show available network adapters Change network adapter to use on the fly - this lets you implement redundant Ethernet connections in your application - let the client detect the failed connection and swap ethernet adapters at runtime to go to redundant Ethernet media. Com Port ID (Serial drivers) - accomplishes the same thing as Changing the Network Adapter but for Serial ports Baud Rate Parity Stop Bits Flow Control RTS Line Control (when to raise, when to drop) RTS Poll Delay Report Low Level Comm Errors Enable Diagnostics Write Optimization settings - lets you change the ratio of reads to writes on the fly to let your application adjust it's performance as needed for different conditions DeviceID (i.e. which PLC you are talking to) - very useful for configuring the driver with one device but letting the client application switch the target device ID or IP address on the go - also useful for doing device level redundancy where you have redundant PLCs on the same network with different device IDs -- your client application need only write one tag to effect a hot switchover to a backup PLC.
